  • Regular servicing ensures your boiler can deliver reliable heating and hot water comfort year after year.
  • It's a condition of the guarantee that your boiler is serviced annually.
  • A regular service will ensure your boiler components are checked an in a safe condition.
  • An annual service ensures that your boiler is as energy efficient as possible, helping to keep your fuel bills low.

How often should you have your boiler serviced

You should get your boiler serviced every year, towards the end of summer before the cold sets in.

Some house insurance policies also insist that your boiler must be maintained as a condition of your agreement.

What is done on a boiler service

An annual boiler service will start with a visual check to ensure that the boiler and associated pipework is installed and positioned correctly. Your Gas engineer will then check that your boiler is operating correctly and identify any issues. Then they will remove the boiler casing to look at its components. They will check the boiler is working safely and efficiently, and clean the components inside the boiler. Your Gas engineer will check the following:

  • That the gas pressure is correct.
  • Combustion checks. A flue gas analyser will be used to make sure the boiler is burning the right mixture of gas and air and that the flue is not blocked
  • Electrical connections are in good condition
  • Fans and other key components are working efficiently
  • Case seals are intact
  • Electrodes are in a good condition and clean
  • Safety devices are checked
  • Condensate trap is clean
  • Water and gas pipework
